As expats, my husband and I travelled often, so having a dog was tricky. Fostering Gulliver, a guide dog trainee, introduced us to volunteers who helped when we were away and organised playdates. When we adopted him after he left the program, that support disappeared.
I realised many pet owners face the same challenge: limited local help and tough choices. That’s why Pawshare Club was born, a community where pet lovers connect and support one another.
Gulliver has shown me unconditional love, the kind I never had growing up. He also showed me how pets can bring people together.
Loneliness can deeply affect our wellbeing and sense of belonging, particularly for older people, people with disability and migrants. Pets give us a natural reason to meet, build trust and support each other.
A shared walk or a meetup can become a conversation, a friendship and a stronger community. These everyday moments create meaningful local connections.
Our aim is to grow this community-led approach to reducing loneliness.

Can I join without a dog or cat?
Absolutely! Many of our members have lost a pet or recently moved and aren’t ready for a permanent pet yet, but still miss that special connection. Pawshare Club is a wonderful way to spend time with pets, even if you don’t have one of your own right now.
We currently welcome dogs and indoor cats.
How do I find the right fit for me and my pet?
Every member creates a detailed profile, where you can read about each dog’s behaviour, size and personality.
We highly recommend setting up multiple coffee or brunch meetups, or going on walks together. This way, you can get to know the other pet lovers and their dog’s personality.
Do you offer insurance?
No. We currently do not offer insurance through Pawshare Club. We help pet lovers connect with each other for pet-friendly activities.

Can my pet join if they have serious behaviour issues?
For the safety of all members, dogs or cats with serious behavioural issues should not join Pawshare Club until their behaviour has improved.
Most members do not have professional training to safely care for pets with complex behavioural needs. If your pet needs extra support, we recommend connecting with a qualified trainer or animal behaviour professional.
